The Auckland Anarchist #2

The 911 cover-up

The towers fell. An inside job. There were no hijackers. A recipe for endless war. Surely not! Isn’t that just a conspiracy theory?

Curiously, the facts support the “inside job” theory. Consider:

Two tall buildings were supposedly struck by aircraft, three fell. The buildings were so over-constructed that the effect of such an event should have been like a pin going through a mosquito net, i.e. no effect. The buildings were constructed to resist multiple aircraft.

I do my bit to create Anarchy one phone call at a time

The task for revolutionary communists is to address the real world, and to point in the direction of workers power. To reveal the hidden class struggles that occur, to educate, agitate and organize for workers to seize control of their own lives, to pose workers power in the face of capitalist and state power.

I work three nights a week for a large environmental NGO.

Starving for justice

Over the last few months, there has been a campaign for the rights of asylum seeking detainees in New Zealand.

L38Squat: PART 1

L38Squat, the social centre Laurentinokkupato, is one of the social centres and squats of Rome and, more exactly, of the south-west outskirts of the city, in a neighbourhood called Laurentino38.

Nevsky Express: Ethnology of the police state at work

This story begins in August 13, 2007, in rural Russia somewhere between St. Petersburg and Moscow. A posh railroad train ‘Nevsky Express’ that offers luxury transportation between two Russia’s biggest cities, was heading towards its destination. Suddenly an explosion occurred; four of the train’s cars lost contact with the track and collapsed. Over 60 people were injured during the accident, at least half of them had to spend some time in hospital. Later the investigators claimed that it was a miracle that greater casualties were avoided.

Reflections on the US-NZ partnership forum protest

The US-NZ partnership forum met in Auckland for the second of what has become an annual meeting between business interests and politicians from the United States and New Zealand.

After 10 such partnership forums between Australia and the US, a free trade agreement was signed, the implementation of which has seen the loss of government sovereignty and devastation to Australia’s agricultural and textile industries. With this in mind, both the intention of the meeting and the urgency to organise against the agenda being pursued were clear.

Genesis to decommission Huntly power plant...

Genesis Energy says it has cut carbon dioxide emissions at Huntly Power Station by a third after firing up a gas turbine capable of powering Auckland. Sounds great doesn’t it? Doesn’t it?

It is important to note that moving to gas fired electricity generation is a step in the right direction, but NOT a step away from fossil fuel generated electricity and could well be a sign of things to come.

Workers occupy and build strike bikes

On 11 October 135 workers in the bicycle factory Bike Systems in Nordhausen, Germany, and their anarcho syndicalist union, the Freie Arbeiterinnen und Arbeiter Union (FAU), made history. Never before in east Germany has worker controlled production from an occupied factory taken place.
Anarcho syndicalism arose as a direct form of anarchist thought in the 1920s. Syndicalists place great emphasis on the labour movement and radical trade unions as a revolutionary force for social change, ultimately replacing capitalism and the state with a democratic society self managed by the workers.
